PREPARING FOR INTERVIEW
So You have passed the phone interview and called for an interview and scheduled at a convenient time for you and the interviewer, CONGRATS!!!
So before appearing for a Face to Face Interview Do the following:
- Research deep about the company and its operations.
- Research industry salary for the job
- Research about the interviewer himself/herself through social media .
- Wear Formal Attire and may wear a blazer or not depending on the job type and level and wear colors of Light or Sky Blue, White ,Black (Not Recommended in Summer) other colors and multi color will not be perceived positively. - Carry more than one copy of the resume that got you interview.
- Be ready for the self Introduction and practicing it in front of a mirror may help. Refer the last blog post for a format on what and what not to include.
- If the job involves working with MS Office Programs - Prepare for it by learning from YouTube , for MS - Excel you may refer this link.
- When interview starts shake hands if offered and sit if a seat is offered.
- Answer Every Question Honestly and if you don't know any answer then say so" No one is all knowing in this world except for god."
- If you are facing an interview board prepare to answer short, relevant and fast. Also give your attention to all interviewers
- At the end of the interview if it went well say thanks for their time .
- If asked for any questions you may have ask about the job , Office timing ,work days etc.
- If the interview gets to salary discussion a diplomatic answer and for a fresher will be "as per company policy" or you give a range . Experienced candidates may ask for the salary they expect.
- Also ask about other perks of job like incentives, transport, rent allowance, medical insurance, Annual leave and benefits. basic salary etc.
- At the end ask the interviewer when can you expect an answer get a date or just one day before the said time sent a reminder mail asking about the decision.
- Then share your interview experience in LinkedIn and Indeed for other candidates , if the company practices any bad HR practices other candidates need not waste their time.
